| In the Queen's chamber
Marie-Thérèse was sitting in front of the mirror in her room, while some of the maids were doing her hair and putting on some make-up, not too much of course, she liked to have a 'naturel' look. She almost couldn't wait until the picnic began, it would be nice to get her mind of all her work and being the Queen. Not that she didn't like her job, not at all, but she did missed the calmness of Arundel Castle and sometimes she'd wish that she didn't had all those things to worry about. She felt like a mother with to many children, and maybe she was, eventually all the English citizens were kind of her children.
When she was ready and the maids stopped doing their work the Queen looked in the mirror to see if she liked it. She smiled, happy that it was as she'd asked it, and then stood up. She clapped in her hands as a sign for the maids to get her coat and almost immediately the girls went to search the light-blue and thin coat that she had chosen. They came back with the mantle in their hands and put it on the Queen's shoulders. Marie-Thérèse went back to the mirror and looked at herself. The coat perfectly matched her dress, which was light-blue and made of thin materials too.
Now that she was ready, she turned around and thanked the maids, who all bowed to her and thanked her for her kindness. The Queen walked out of the door, now followed by some other servants who where waiting at the door and walked trough the large halls of Whitehall Palace, heading towards the stables, which were next to the park.
At the entrance of the park
After having crossed several halls and courts, the Queen had finally arrived at the entrance of the park. She saw there that one of the two Spanish brothers was already arrived. She thought it was the oldest, Oduan, although she wasn’t completely sure about that. She smiled to him and didn’t wait until he had bowed; she wanted to get her horse directly. She entered the stables and asked the stable master, who was surprised to see her in the stables already and who made a quick and clumsy bow, if she could have one of the best horses in the stables. Eventually, after a few second, the stable master returned with a beautiful black mare, on which he had already put a saddle for women. Pleased by his choice, the Queen thanked him and mounted the horse, with some help of her servants. Then she rode out of the stables, happy to be able to ride again. There, she saluted the Spanish brother.
Welcome at Whitehall, Your Grace, I hope that the trip between the Palace and London wasn’t too unpleasant?

| The coach with Lady Catherine Stewart in it drove through the streets of London to the Palace of Whitehall. Catherine was happy that the driver knew the way exactly, as she wasn't able to remember it completely from her first trip to the Palace. Eventually, the coach stopped at the entrance of the Palace and Catherine stepped out. She walked towards a guard and showed her invitation.
I hope I will be able to find my way to the Royal Park in time.

| It was the time, in minutes Acc will start the way to the palace of Whitehall. The picnic, which was organized by the queen, look very lively, lots of important people would be together and there would be a good time to build relationships and new friendships.
Once mounted, Acc spured the horse and went over at a good pace to the palace. Set that the street had more soldiers than usual and as closer to the palace was more curious he could see. Finally, rowed to the door of the residence of the queen the soldiers had to strive hard to open space for the guests at the party. Beating and kicking with the horse the navarro reached the door.
- Soldier Let me go, I am not going to infect anything from this mob! -he said showing the queen's invitation to the officer in charge of the door.

| Coughing from the dust that followed the passing of the man on the horse, Alexander stopped marching, though he was only a few meters away from the entrance. He was on his way to the Royal Park, but appeared to be the only man without a horse. Though he had the money to buy one, he just didn't feel like having one, or riding one, at the moment. He had feet for something and he liked a walk now and then. By the way, it wasn't that far, so there was no problem.
When the dust cleared, he saw the gates of the Park and a lot of men trying to get closer. He saw the man on the horse having trouble getting in because of the mob. He couldn't help laughing quite loud, while he approached.
Eventually, the man got in offcourse, it always is that way, the mob loses and the rich men win. Alex couldn't stop himself. A true man doesn't treat the people that way! He saw the guards looking angry at him and decided to leave the scene, only to walk past the wall and eventually, thanks to a tree and a bit of luck of not having any guards around, as they were all helping out at the gate, getting inside the park.
He avoided the entrance and walked around to find the place of the picnic. No guard would bother him now, as he was now inside and they would consider him a guest, as they always believed in their own superiority and that nobody would ever get the possibility to get inside the park without invitation. Luck for him, he thought, while he still walked around patiently.

| In Elisabeth’s room
Elise sat on a chair while her nurse maids were brushing her hair. She could hardly wait for the pick-nick to begin. She would wear her hair loose and she had chosen a white dress with a light blue ribbon. It seemed to take ages before she was ready and finally could go outside.
Outside
Elise comes outside, accompanied by her nurse maid. She stands still for a moment and enjoys the sun shining on her face. Then she looks around, where would her sister be? They walk towards the gate and see Marie on her horse and somebody else was standing with her. Didn't she know that man? When she thinks for a second she recognised the man. He was the man with the strange clothes who she had seen when she had arrived at the Palace. Elise goes to them and greets them politely
Good day sir She says while making a little reverence for the Duke
Hello Marie, look I'm completely ready While saying that she spins around making her dress fly up a little
Then Elise looks at the beautiful horse her sister is sitting on. Hello sweet horsy She pets the horse, she could already ride a pony but not such a big horse her sister rides on. But when she was older she would also ride a beautiful horse like this one. Then she would be so high from the ground that it would be just like flying

| Catherine felt like a fool. She talked to a guard who didn't respond to hear, as he wasn't allowed to do. She knew that she was at the Palace but there weren't any nobles from where she was standing. She wished she insisted on having someone at her side when she stepped into that carriage. Preferably someone who does know the way to the Royal Park!
Catherine began to walk a bit with her invitation squeezed tightly in her hands. She walked in the Palace now in search for a staffmember who was able to tell here in what direction she needed to go, but for some reason there wasn't anybody as far as she could see. She sighed and walked further.

| When her majesty arrives at his side the Duke noded his head in reverence. He listened to her covered but when was his turn to answer he took of the dragoon helmet
Your Highness... The travel was in fact anything but unpleasant, riding is a salutable excercise and the weather certainly accompains. If it's your Majesty's desire maybe some day your Highness may honor the house of Altuna with Her company during a horse promenade.
As he was talkint the little princess appeared. She made a gentle and polited reverence that Oduan acknowledged with a smile and a reverence from himself. He saw that the princess was looking at the Queen's horse and he had an idea. He dismounted and took his black horse by the reigns. He told Elisabeth
May your Royal Highness want to try how is it ridding a real horse? If Her Majesty approves of course... He said with a smile, since the cookie incident the inocence and freshness of the kid had captivated him

| Piero had received the invitation to the park on the night before, with his sister Catherine. However, she had left the house before for the Royal Picnic.
If there was something that really pleased Richmond, it was the countryside: the calm, peaceful fields of his beloved lands of Richmondshire were an inspiration for the Constable who had seen enough battles in the Continent to believe that war was nothing more than a necessity, and if there was glory, it was for the moral of a regiment. And, just inside the Court, he had been surprised by that idea...! A royal picnic.
He wore beautiful, magnificent linen shirt, breeches and boots which colors were blue and gold, not the black, formal clothes he normally wore in Councils, Headquarters, Court... Piero enjoyed to be well dressed.
The Stewart walked through the halls and corridors of the Court towards the Royal Park through a small entrance. He showed the guard his invitation and soon walked through the small paths surrounded by grass. He saw, from a distance, Her Majesty mounted on a horse, as well as a young girl whom he didn't know and the Marshall of Middlesex, Oduan. But where was Catherine?
The Duke went towards the group and before Marie-Thérèse, he bowed, without saying a word, smiling.

| After over a month away from the city, in the height of the season no less, Eleanor finally returned to London last night. Upon her return she received a letter from Her Majesty inviting her to a picnic this morning. Thankful that she was not called straight away to attend on Her Majesty, Eleanor had enough time to quickly right a reply to the affirmative (after all, who refuses a Queen?) and went straight to sleep.
She wakes up, feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the day. After getting herself ready for the picnic with Blanche's assistance, she orders her carriage and takes it over to the castle.
Arriving at the Castle, she enters the Palace gates and walks through the castle. On her way to the Privy Gardens, she encounters a young lady looking confused and a little lost. She notices in the lady's hand a piece of parchment just like hers. She walks up to the girl and taps her on her shoulder. Excuse me, are you lost? Is that an invitation you have there to Her Majesty's picnic? I'm heading to the Privy Gardens now as well, so we can go together if you like. I'm Eleanor.

| Rhiannon donned her newest dress, of a lighter fabric than the heavy dresses that had kept her warm through the winter. It was a lovely spring day, and Rhi was excited to be going to the royal picnic. She walked quickly down the corridors from her chambers to the royal park with a smile on her face.
She wondered if Henry would be there. As always though, her duty was to the Queen, even if she missed the quiet nights at home with her beloved. Rhi had heard that Her Majesty's sister was now at the Palace, and she looked forward to meeting the young woman... she did not know much about children, having always been the youngest, but she hoped that she would get along well with Her Highness.
When Rhiannon arrived, she saw the Queen already on horseback... wondering if there would be riding for all. She fondly remembered her own dear mare from Trawsgoed, and riding over the Estate with her brother and sisters...
Straightening her skirts, she crossed the park and approached the Queen, and gave a deep curtsy.

| As Alexander was clearly not going to get near the right place, he decided to sing a song, as he really had nothing better to do while walking in the great park. Though he sung, not to loud, it would have been hearable through quite a part of the park.
Way, haul away, the good ship is a-bolding, Way, haul away, we'll haul away, Joe! Way, haul away, the sheet is now unfold-ing, Way, haul away, we'll haul away, Joe!
Way, haul away, we'll haul for better weather… Way, haul away, we'll haul away, Joe! Way haul away, we'll haul away together Way, haul away, we'll haul away, Joe!

| Catherine turned her head as she acknowledged the soft tapping on her shoulder. There, she saw a young Lady standing and immediataly Catherine bowed to her. Piero had told her over and over that she needed to bow to everyone who is noble and this woman certainly seemed to be from a noble family. As Catherine heared her talking, she showed her invitation to the Queen's picnic to Eleanor.
Yes.. I am. I haven't been in the Royal Park before and every corridor seems to be exact the same, or is it just me? So therefore, I would be very grateful if we could walk together! My name is Catherine. Catherine Stewart. And, if you are the right Eleanor.. I believe we both know Piero Stewart too.
Catherine began to smile widely.

| Marie-Thérèse smiled when she saw how the Duke threated her little sister, it seemed that he was good with children. But in contrary of that, she wasn’t sure that she’d like her little sister to ride on such a big horse in the hands of some one that she hardly knew. There always was the possibility that Elisabeth would fall and get heavily injured or that she would die. Of course those things were worst-case-scenarios, but there always was a possibility. She was about to say no when she saw the friendly and kind eyes of the Duke and the sweet face of her little sister. How could she refuse? The duke looked like he wouldn’t let her drop.
Yes, of course, but do not ride too quickly.
She smiled and ordered one of the servants to help her sister on the horse.
Soon others arrived, the Duke of Richmond and Lennox and Baroness Grey. The Queen smiled and wished them welcome. She also noticed that they hadn’t a horse yet.
Welcome, welcome… I hope you both found the entrance without any problems? You don’t have horses yet; you can go to the stables to ask one.

| Oduan watched carefully how the young Elise mounted the horse. He holded the animal by the reins. The child seemed delighted so Oduan hands her the reins and grabs the bit. Making sure that she has grabed the reins firmly he makes the horse take a few steps
Everything allright young Princess? Belit is a pretty calm mare, she is a reliable animal not just for short rushes but also for longer distances. Maybe you want to try to guide her a little bit by yourself, don't worry I will be by your side in every moment
Oduan then realized that his Grace the duke of Lennox and Lady Grey have arrived, he salutated them with the appropiated courtesy their respective ranks required. Later he might need to talk to Piero about his wedding with Lady Catherine. And for God's sake, where is Catherine?

| Eleanor's face lights up when the girl introduces herself and Eleanor curtsies her. Lady Catherine! Yes, you must be Piero's sister! Well it is a pleasure to finally meet you at last! I have been meaning to meet you for a while, but my mother was suddenly taken ill in the country and I needed to return to her to tend to her. Come! Let us go to the picnic!
Eleanor gestures in the direction of the corridor that leads to the gardens and walks next to her. So please, Lady Catherine. Tell me about yourself. Where were you hiding throughout all this civil war? Did your brothers send you somewhere to stay? I'm afraid I've not had much opportunity to speak with Piero much since I returned from France except that one time. Eleanor blushes at this memory. It was really very good of him to choose me. Did he tell you my father asked me to take him in when I was living in Rouen?

| Catherine walked next to Eleanor and listened very carefully to her. Eleanor was very beautiful and Catherine was able to imagine why her brother liked her so much. When Eleanor paused talking, Catherine took a breath and then began to reply.
My brother hasn't told me.. Actually, we barely speak these days.
Catherine sighed and looked straight ahead. She hadn't spoken with her brother for a while and when they do speak, he really gives her the feeling that they never will be able to be that close or have that much contact. And even worse, his behaviour towards her convinced her that she didn't knew him at all, although she thought she did! All together, these thoughts weren't that pleasent. But still Catherine was able to hold a smile on her face and looked back to Eleanor.
I've lived in Normandy in a monastry while the civil war was held. James helped me to flee. During my stay, I kept reading and just having fun with some girlfriends which I made. The priest didn't let me to get in touch with any boy at all. But tell me please, has your mother recovered completely? I surely hope so.

| Oduan pulls a little grabing the bit with one hand. Belit tooks one stpe, and then another.... After a few steps Oduan just stops controlling the animal and walks in front of it. The princess looks quite small on top of the black mare but she seems to enjoy it, although she also looks quite concentrade. Oduan smiles to her so she would relax a bit.
Your Royal Highness, just relax your body, the only pressure you need to do is with your knees....It's not about strenght but about authority... He gave a gentle pat on the horse hindquarters and the animal took a light trot

| Eleanor's smile falters when Catherine tells her about the lack of communication between herself and her brother. Having no brothers herself, Eleanor cannot imagine the pain she must be feeling. She looks at Catherine as she speaks fondly of her brother James and smiles herself. How she must miss her other brother!
She looks down and forces herself not to cry when Catherine asks about her mother. She looks up again and says quietly, No, my mother did not survive her illness. We had her funeral almost 2 weeks ago, but I could not bear to return to London before last night.
Looking ahead of her, she notices the guard at the entrance to the gardens. She takes Catherine's hand and forces a smile on her face. Well, we are about to enter Her Majesty's presence. No more thoughts of sad things. I sincerely hope we can be good friends, Catherine. She leans next to her ear and whispers, After all, we are going to be sisters!
She grins at Catherine and shows her invitation to the guard.

| Catherine started to laugh when she heard Eleanor. After Eleanor had showed her invitation to the guard, she did as well. Catherine was really happy that she had had the chance to meet her sister in law already without even the help needed from her brother. She smiled and embraced Eleanor for a few seconds.
I know it may not be that appropriate to do, but I haven't had a sister before so therefore I'm really happy. Well, it isn't exactly true.. James was married but I think they married during the civil war and also both died before the civil war was over. But you are right, it isn't time to have unpleasent thoughts now! Let's have some fun, shall we? Maybe I could introduce you to my fiancee too!
Catherine smiled still as she walked next to Eleanor again. It really was a sunny day so the picnic would be a great succes.
