This was one of his favourite rooms of the house that the Altuna family has recently adquired. The house had three main floors; in the first one can be found the entrance, the main dinning room, the living room with the big fireplace, a music room and the cooking room, which connected to the annex building destinated to the service. The second floor was divided mainly among the library, the bureau and the main sleeping room. Another small room that could be used as a private dinning room was also foun in this floor. Finnally the third floor contained two smaller bedrooms and a little games room.

After the affairs in Whitehall were solved and the new Queen had left with the Lady Regent Oduan went back to his own home and let himself fall on one of the sofas on the first floor living room. He was exhausted and closed his eyes for a few moments. But there were things to do.

He made a sign to one of the members of the service and asked him for some paper and writting tools. He quickly wrote a letter to Roberto_Bica

Oduan de Altuna
Duke of Medina las Torres

To his surprise, the letter was written by the man who helped him on one of the first days after his arrival. He already told him then to pay him a visit once, but because of the unpleasent situation with the queen's death and so, he decided it ws better to wait a while.

He already was dressed in his best suit. So he took the letter and walked to the House of the Duke of Medina las Torres.

When he arived there, he was astonished by the splender of the house. It was big and richly decorated. Roberto walked up the stairs to the front door and knocked.
After a little while, a servant opened the door and asked who he was. Roberto gave him the letter.

Can you please tell your master that Roberto van Zeller-Ferreira has arrived.
I come here on his request.

A servant announced the arrival of his guest and Oduan told him to let him in with a gesture. Roberto entered the room and Oduan smiled.

Welcome to my home Roberto. PLease take a seat. May I offer you any refreshment or even some spirituous drink? He said as he pointed to one of the sofas Thanks for coming so soon I was realy looking forward to have some chat with you. I have heard that you might definitively take the life of service to Our Lord. Is that true? If it is so can you tell me a little bit more about your vocation?

After a lttle while, the servant returned and lead him to the room where the Duke was waiting for him. Roberto took a seat on the sofa, appointed to him by the Duke. He listened to what the Duke had to say.

Thank you very much for your invitation, my lord Roberto hoped that that was the proper way to adress the Duke, for he was still very infamiliar with most of the English costums. As soon as i recieved the letter, I came over here. I can imagine that a man of your position doesn't like waiting very much. I've heard there are still so many things to do here.

Then Roberto took a look at the cabinet with al the bottles and saw one with a nice spanish wine.

If you don't mind, i would like to try that spanish wine over there. I presume it's from one of your families vineyards?

Then the Duke started to ask him about his vocation to the Lord. Fond memories came back into his mind, when he thought of is years in the monastry in Braga.

Well, my Lord, you may know that my parents run a winery near the city of Porto in Portugal. For ages we deliver the wine for the holy mass in the whole of Portugal. Therefor we have a good relationship with the portuguese clergy.
When i was a little boy, my parents send me to the monestry of São Martinho de Tibães, where i've been tought by the archbishop of Braga himself. He is e very god friend of our family.
For many years i've studied the holy books, and read many things about other riligions as well.
When i finished my aducation I wanted to become a priest in Portugal, but my father thought different.
He had planned for me to take over the family bussiness one day, so I had to learn about that as well.

At that time i was very disappointed, because i wanted to dedicate my life to the Lord. But then i talked to the Archbishop and he told me that my faith would probably be with another Lord. At first i didn't understand him quite well. But now i do.

For a moment Roberto paused, and took a deep breath.

So I did what my father told me to do, and learned all about wine making, Port wine in particular.
Then he send me to England to expand the bussiness.
A few days after my arrival i went to the church here in London.
To my great concern i found no one there.
It seems like this country is without fait or religion.

Then i remembered the words of the Archbishop.
I think it is my faith to help to people of England to find their way to the Lord, like i ouind my way to them.

With thirsty eyes, Roberto looked at the glass of wine. So much words had dried his tongue.

Oduan listened Roberto's answers and moved his head in agreement.

Your story is certainly inspiring Roberto, hope that you will accept us to refer in a cordial fashion, and as I told you before I would be delighted to help you in your pursuit.

It's certain, the state of the Church of England is a matter of great concern for everyone. Since the disapparition of the Bishop the people is lost and taken away from God. For this reason you and other people wanting to take a life of service to God are rays of light that will for sure be the guide of many. But the trials will be many are you sure you wnat to make such decision?

For a little while, Roberto overtought the question Oduan asked him. Many doubts run through his mind. Was it realy his vocation to dedicate his live to the Lord? Was he reallycapable of leading the people of London to the Lord? He didn't know the answer, but of one thing he was sure. It was his faith to try it. He felt that it was his obligation to the Almighty One.

Yes i Know, the trials will be many, and the will be hard and severe. But i am willing to make this decision.

Then he looked at the Duke with his kindest smile

But i know for sure that i can't do it alone.
Therefor i have to ask you for your help.

You, as a man of Spanish decendent, know, like I, that the faith and the rituals that come with it, in England are not the same as in our native countries.
So i need someone who can introduce me to the Holy Books of the Engish church, the rituals and the Dogma.
I wil study them severly, and make them my own. Then I can lead the People of London and the Whole of England the the light.

In fact Roberto most of the rituals fo the enclish church are quite similar to the ones of the southern countries as they were saved from the Pascalian reformation. I would like to suggest to go to the Saint George Library to consult the volumes that can be found there.

And now if you allow me to ask you about more terrenal matters, where are you staying at the moment?

I will certainly do that. I'll go there right after we finished our conversation.

At the moment I am staying at the Staple Inn on High Holborn.
Because i recently arrived in London, i haven't had the chance to search for a proper house yet.

Oduan smiled

Well in that case I might offer you some arrangement that I hope will please you. I have some spare bedrooms in the third floor, why don't you stay here insted of the Inn? The rooms are simple but confortable and the house is well situated near the center of London. In addition the house service could take care of your needs so you can focus on the guarding of faith.

What do you think?

When Roberto heard the offer the Duke made him, he was filled with joy.

You're too kind, my lord.
I gladly accept you offer.
Even the Inn is a very nice place to stay, it isn't to place to study the Holy Books.
For there is to much noice in the evenings.

When do you think i can move in?

He stood up and offered his hand to Roberto

Ehm...well...I wil arrange that right away, so I will be able to move in this very day.

but, now you're calling me monsigneur....

Roberto stoop up as wel and offered his hand also

Don't we have to arrange something, somewhere, before you can call me monsigneur?
I'm not officialy ordained, now you call me that, am I?

Roberto looked around the room, and got a very pleasant feeling.
This house was going to be his new home.

When Catherine left the Apartments of the young Queen, she immediately left the Palace of Whitehall in order to visit the City Hall of London. There, she spoke with mayorness Emaleigh about the Queen's wish. When she finally stepped into the coach again, she was almost exhausted. Catherine needed to make long days as a Lady Regent and she missed Oduan terribly. Therefore she decided to visit the Altuna's mansion in the centre of London. After all, she was already in London!

Eventually, the coach stopped before the main entrance and as Catherine stepped out, a servant already knocked on the door. Since the servants of the Altuna mansion already knew her, she was allowed to walk straight into the hallway, where she took her coat off.

After a while, Roberto return to the Altuna's residence, with the servant. They both carried 2 suitcases, for that was all the stuff that Roberto had brought from his homecountry. The sun was already setting and it appreared to be a lovley evening. They walked op the front stairs and nocked on the door. There they waited for the door to be opened, for the servant who went with him, didn't have a key.

As they were waiting there, Roberto thought many thoughts. What was he going to do te next days? How would his parents react when they came about to notice that he became a clergyman? How would the church look like in which he was going to work? Was he ging to like the English food? Will he be able to set op the portwine-tradecompany as well?
Many questions to qich he didn't have the answers yet.

A servant warned Oduan of the arrival of the Lady Regent. He closed the book he was reading and asked the servant to introduce Lady Catherine into the living room. When she entered he stood up and kissed her hand

High Lady Regent, you honour my house with your visit. He said as he waited for the servants to leave the room. He waited to make sure that they were not on ear reach before putting away the formalities I've been missing you Cath, may you please take a seat? I have someone to introduce to you, his name is Roberto and is from Portugal. I hope that he might be a suitable candidate for being in charge of the parishes of Middlesex and become our new... bishop. In fact I have even asked him to consider the idea of becoming our family priest. Do you want to meet him?

Catherine entered the living room when the servant asked her to. There she saw Oduan back and although his behaviour towards her was quite normal in the presence of others, she was still quite surprised. As soon as the servants had left the room, she recognised her own fiancee back and smiled widely towards him.

I've missed you too, Oduan.. more than I could say in words, I believe.

Then, Catherine listened to Oduan about some Roberto from Portugal. She had already met him once and she found it a very polite and nice gentleman to be with.

Of course I would like to meet him! Well, I've already met him I assume.. but please, invite him in!

As Catherine smiled again, she moved her lips towards Oduan's ears in order to whisper something to him.

On the condition that we are able to spend some time together too, eventually.

High Lady Regent, it's a honour to meet you.
Let me first congratulate you with your appointment as Regent.
I hope that England will blossom under you inspiring leadership.

Catherine stood up and waited while Oduan was getting Roberto. As Roberto made a small reverance for her when he came in, she realises that she still wasn't used to these new sort of greeting towards her. Catherine smiled and they both sat down in their seats again, at the same time.

Thank you for your congratulations, my dear Roberto. I share your hopes for England too.

Catherine took a deep breath as she wanted to discuss things right away. It was the end of a very long day and she didn't spoke about anything else then politcal matters.

My fiancee already told me a bit about your wish to spread the word our God. Tell me something please about it? Why the faith of Saint George's Church? The religion is actually in need for someone to govern in the name of God.

Whike sitting down, Roberto listened with great interest to what the High Lady Regent had to say. When she asked him about spreading the word of God, he nodded affermative.

Well, your High Lady Regent, as you might know, I came to London to set up a trade company to export our familie's port-wine. But you might be surprised to know, that in my home country, I've had a religious eductation. For several years I was tought by the Archbishop of Braga, and i always wanted to be a member of the portuguese clergy, but my father thought otherwise.

When I came to London, I found out that the church here is in very need of people who want to spread the word.
At first I was holding back a bit, because i didn't know much about the faith in Engalnd. But then i learned to know that it is quit the same, for we have the same God.

So with the help of the Queen, who is the head of the church, I think I can be very helpfull to the people of London and England.

Roberto hoped that teh High Lady Regent would notice his enthousiasm to get started.
