PostSubject: [ENTRANCE] The Palace Gates   [ENTRANCE] The Palace Gates EmptySat Jan 10, 2009 10:00 am

Welcome before the Gates of the Royal Palace of England, the residence of Queen Marie-Thérèse I, Queen of England, Scotland and Ireland. Several guards are standing before the Palace Gates. This isn't the only gatehouse, no, there are several! A lot of traffic is going on, people going in and out. But can you come in? To you have the right to go in? If the guards don't know you, they'll certainly hold you. Do not mess with them! Armed with rifles and spears, there much to strong for you!
After these Gates, you enter the Court. Please look at the flour plan of Whitehall Palace first, before you get lost in the huge Palace...

Rhiannon, dressed in her favorite red dress, nervously approached the Palace gates. In her pale hand she held a piece of parchment, the Queen's response that had come last night, giving Rhi a chance to share the news of her appointment with her husband Henry.

First thing this morning she had readied herself and directed the carriage to Whitehall. One did not keep the Queen waiting when she had so graciously appointed you.

So here she stood, letter in hand, walking towards the gate. Though inwardly she was nervous, she did not allow it to show, outwardly she appeared a calm noble. A guard asked her identity, and she used her new title for the first time, praying she didn't stumble over her new title.

"Rhiannon... Baroness Grey. I have come at summons of her Majesty to take up a position as Lady-in-waiting."

The boy at the gates was probably one of the youngest people in the Queen’s Guard ever. He had had the luck to prove himself at the battlefield, by coincidence actually, and to reward him they had offered him a place in the most prestigious guard of the Kingdom, the Royal Guard, or the Queen’s Guard. While he imagined how it would be if he was a King or a Prince, he saw someone at the gates. He had never seen her before, so he looked to the other guard, to see if they recognised her. This wasn’t the case so he approached her. Luckily, she began to speak almost immediately.

Rhiannon... Baroness Grey. I have come at summons of her Majesty to take up a position as Lady-in-waiting.

Ah, yes. They had had orders to look out for some one with that name. Apparently this was the new First Lady-in-waiting of the Queen, which meant that she had the full grace of Her Majesty. In other words, with some one like that you didn’t try to fight. He bowed, as she was a noble, and spoke to her. His voice was still breaking, as he was only 16 years old.

Welcome Milady. The Queen is in the Great Hall, where there are already other people asking for an audience. Shall I lead you the way?

He offered her his arm, as a real gentleman did, and lead her trough the Court to the Great Hall. Before he let her in, he gave her some tips:

I’ve not yet had the privilege to speak to the Queen, but there are some things that I have learned in my short residence here. There are a lot of rulers concerning nobility, but I’ll give you the basics. Make sure that you use this tips, until the Queen gives you permission to stop using them.
Always bow and never speak first, and don’t touch her.

His cheeks became red. as he was blushing

I’ve once uuhm… touched… a noble Lady. And believe me, they do not like it!
Bu…but anyway Milady, good luck!

With those words he went back to the Gates, to retake his position.

She smiled at the young boy and let him lead her towards the Hall. "Thank you, young Sir, for the tips.. I will most definitely need the luck too!" Rhiannon smiled graciously again before he left and she entered the Hall, she was a friendly young woman and the boy had been kind.

Piero arrived in the Palace Gates with his new uniform of Lord High Constable. He was furious when he heard of the death of the last Duke of Norfolk by poison and his face was red as the uniform. Not only was his brother dieing, now his distant relatives, the Stuarts were also killing one by one... who would be the next? He, the Queen...? Piero ignored the guards, who seemed to recognize the new Lord High Constable and went directly to where the Queen was, after asking the location once in the Palace to a guard...

A small carriage arrives at the Palace Gates. A young footman jumps off the back and scurries to the side to open the door. Lady Eleanor Cecil steps out of the carriage and approaches the guard at the gate. Although she is a little nervous, she is a lady and she knows how to hide nerves well. She speaks to the guard, who looks little more than a boy; a few years younger than her. She smiles at him and says, Lady Eleanor Cecil, daughter of William Cecil, the Earl of Salisbury, requesting an audience with Her Majesty the Queen.

The boy was again standing still at the gates of the Palace, when suddenly a coach approached once more. The coach stopped and a Lady came out. She presented herself to be the daughter of the Earl of Salisbury. The boy replied after he had bowed once:

Welcome, Mylady. The Queen is currently in the Private Gardens, but I shall send some one to inform her about your arrival. Please go to the Great Hall, there will be certainly other nobles to talk with.

Henry had spent much of the early morning examining the figures for the treasury of the county. Middlesex was doing well with the peace that had been brought with the restoration of the monarchy. Traders were beginning to return…Europeans were beginning to feel less fearful of the dangerous republican English and buying our goods once more. Still, Henry hoped to improve trade even further once the new Mayor of London had been established with its Council.

He had just finished writing some thoughts down to help foster trade when a knock came at the door. A Palace messenger stood waiting for him.
“A message from Whitehall for you Baron Grey” He said, passing Henry the elegant looking letter. As soon as he opened it, Henry had recognised his wifes’ handwriting and smiled.

It’s contents intrigued him immensely and he pulled his cloak around his shoulders and made haste to the Palace.

On arrival, he announced his name to the guards proudly and waited to be told where he was required, his head held high and back stiff.

The young Guard was still focused to stand as silently as possible. He tried not to make any movement, not even the most little one. At the beginning, it worked, until a giant rat passed be and he scared that much that he fell, trying to maintain in position. A couple of the other Guards looked strange to him, the boy felt embarrassed and quickly got back to his place. Suddenly, another visitor was stopped in front of the Palace Gates. Not that that was that strange, there were always people present in Whitehall. He announced himself, and the Guard recognized his name.

Ah yes!

He bowed and then spoke, his voice still breaking:

Her Majesty already told us about your coming. You should go to the Great Hall, Mylord, I shall send some one to inform Her Majesty about you arrival.

Oduan and Acc3p7 Hammersmith walkd directly to the palace gates. Even before arriving near them they felt the atmosfere of grandeur that surrounded the whole place. Inside this palace her Majesty the Queen directed the fates of the British Islands.

The two young brothers had traveled a long distance before arriving to Whitehall but they were sure that the opportunity to present themselves to the Queen and be among the first englishmen to vow eternal loyalty to Her Majesty.

Finally they arrived to the gates guarded by a young man in a brilliant red uniform

Nearby his brother was Acc, wearing some old fationated clothes all covered of dust. The way they had took to the palace was dirty because the mud of the road. The closer they were to building more strage memories were coming to their mind, almost forgotten memories of childhood which does not fully remember but there they were.

Finally they arrived at the promontory where the majestic building was, after a quick look they watch a soldier that was flanking the door.

- Soldier, let us come and present our respects to the queen!

After a few seconds of hesitation, the soldier asked them to recognize.

- Somos dos honrados siervos que venimos a presentar nuestros respetos a la reina!*

The guard did not understand anything so he thought they were two ambassadors from distant lands and got into de palace to ask if they were allowed to enter.

* We are two honored worshipers who come to present our respects to the queen!

Acc deberias haberle hablado en ingles, hablas perfectamente la lengua de estas tierras, no habia necesidad de desorientar al zagal hablandole en la lengua de Castilla*

Said Oduan to Acc3p7 while they waited in front of the gates. Althopugh Acc3p7 showed his usual selfconfidence Oduan had many doubts boiling in his mind. Would the Queen recieve them? Will she listen to their pledges? Will she accept their legitimate claims?

*You should have talked to him in english Acc. You speak perfectly this country's language, there was no need to confuse the poor guy by using the language of Castilla

The young guard looked at the two men, trying to understand what they were saying. After a while, he had enough of it and he stepped forward.

Could you speak in clear language, gentlemen, and maybe tell me why you seem that determined to speak her Majesty?

Oduan noticed from the tone of the guard that the young man was getting nervous. So he decided to explain why were they at the palace gates.

We are determined to speak to her gracious majesty because we believe in the fairness of the alegations we will present to Her. My young brother and I seek from our beloved Queen the recognicion of our lineage and the opportunity to serve Her with the same loyalty and devotion that our father ,the Duke of Medina de las Torres, showed when serving the King of Spain until that dreadful night of 1631.

Are we granted entrance?

The Guard looked at the men carefully. Normally nobles were expected to have informed the Queen already before they came. He didn't knew well what to do now.

Sir, I do not know you, I have never heard of you actually. Normally we are informed by the Queen about the coming of nobles.

A stagecoach made it's way through the streets of London. It was a rainy, cold day, as much of London's were. Piero observed from inside the vehicle the movement of the streets, which seemed to cease a bit with the progress of the rain. Piero was richly dressed ina blue mantle over his black linen shirt, breeches and boots. Then, he looked to his side, where Catherine was. .

Tell me, my sister, are you afraid or nervous? You shouldn't be... we're soon to arrive, and remember to behave yourself. Only speak to the Queen if she speaks first. Be polite, don't stare at her or other nobles, make reverences...

...Ah! There is Whitehall.

Piero pointed out to the enormous castle which appeared before them, as the carriage stopped by the Palace Gates. Piero already knew the guards, easily he could pass, and after all he had free pass...

Come, milady my sister!

Catherine was sitting next to her brother and listened to te rain spatting on the stagecoach. Although she tried not to be that nervous, she couldn't help herself. Every few minutes she tries to get her thoughts on something else, although her mind just blocked.

I.. I'm trying to be calm and doing the best I can, brother. Are we already there? Can't we make another trip?

Catherine said it impulsively but also realised her brother wouldn't consider her proposal seriously. She stepped out of the stagecoach by the hand of her brother and looked a little terrified after seeing the enormous castle.

Piero laughed at her proposal of making another trip.

Why, my dear sister, as we just arrived in Whitehall?, said him as he took her arm and went towards the guards. The great columns of the Court stood before them, after the gates. What a majestic work! The name of the palace wasn't for another reason, and Piero turned to Catherine.

It's even more beautiful when the sun is shining, as the white rocks reflect it. A jewel of London, in my opinion., said him, observing the Palace. The palace which had been inpired by the great Richmond Palace. Indeed, a masterpiece! The centre of England's politics and social life.

We shall see Her Majesty in the Great Hall. Be prepared, there are many nobles there who may stare at you and if they whisper between themselves, do not mind. I believe you'll enjoy the Court. Now, come, shall we?, said him, smiling and asking her to cross the gates towards the Great Hall...

Catherine silently walked next to her brother. Although she was used to live in a big and luxery mansion, as she was born and raised in Cobham Hall, Catherine was amazed by the greatness of the palace. She listened to her brother's supplement while she was trying to get an idea of what was coming: the Great Hall, full of nobles and, as she imagined, the Queen would stand in the middle, smiling as she always does.
I've already met nobles in Cobham Hall, my dear brother. I believe I'll be able to behave myself as needed. Lets go.

Catherine smiled at her brother now. Although she felt quite nervous and uncertain in the stagecoach, Catherine was now determined to present herself as a real Stewart would do.

In fact young man our problem is that the nobility we inherit by naissance has not already been recognized by Her Majesty so that's te reason we are here today. We expect that once we presented the proves of our bith rights to Her Grace we will be acreditated as nobles.

The young boy sighed. This was a difficult matter. Should he let them in? Maybe yes, but what if they were assassins trying to get in the Palace to kill the Queen? That wouldn't be very good. He wavered, but eventually he took his decision.

Well then, I'll let you in. But I'll follow you and if you do anything wrong, even the tiniest thing that may threaten her Majesty, I shall shoot you both with my rifle.

He looked at her brother and her eyes show that they agreed with what the guy offered.

- It seems fair

The two brothers headed inside the palace. A servant was waiting to guide them to the sumptuous halls of the residence of the queen. He led by overloaded classrooms and hallways possibly to try to wring the two strangers. Finally, he led them to the courtroom to wait to have permission to see his gracious majesty

The guard was nervous, his blue eyes went from Acc to him and back to Acc without a single moment of calm. So when the wandering party stopped at some waiting room of the enormous Whitehall. Oduan then slowly turned to the guard and with calm and non threatign movements he slowly unbukled the belt where he carried his sword and dague. Then with the arms pending as he grabbed the belt with his right hand he handed them to the young guard who, Oduan supposed, will be by now pretty damn confused.

Come'on take it. We are not trying to kill Her Gracious Majesty. First we are not traitors but members of Her Glorius army. Second never, never, try an assasination by the process of the frontal attack, it will result in a stupid and useless death. Third, in such a close space a sword will suit better than a rifle, by the time you have recharged the one of us surviving will have killed you a dozen of times. So get that figner out of the trigger and let's all of us wait to be in Her presence.

Oduan gave the belt to the guard and walked around the room admiring the paintings on the walls

Follow me please, and now tricks. Her Majesty is currently busy, so you shall have to wait to enter the Great Hall until she's ready.

The boy started his walk to the Great Hall, guiding the two men there...

Oduan and his brother walked into the Great Hall afther the guard. Althought he was trying to controll himself Oduan was a little bit nervous. At least they were guided to Her Majesty's presence. He gave a look to his brother, Acc3p7 presented the calmed appearance he showed when expecting a battle to comence. Nothing on his borther facial expresion revelated his inner thoughts and he looked with resolution to the front. To the gates that will lead them to the presence of the Rose of England
