[RP] Parochial Church of St Bartholomew-the-Great

When no one came to answer him, he turn his back on the altar and walked out of the church, back in to the streets of London.
They were still empty and quiet while the afternoonsun was burning hard.
He thought things over and came to a conclusion.

There seems to be no clergyman around, whatsoever.
Maybe there is a possibility here for me, to dedicate my life to the Lord.

Maybe that is what the Archbissop of Braga ment, when he told me that my faith was in the hands of another Lord.

A few days after his first visit to this church, Roberto entered the building. But this tme the feeling was different. This wasn't any ordibnairy church anymore. This church was going to be his place of worship and the spreading of the Word. His new goal in life. Here he was going to celebrate the glory of the Lord, with the other Londoners, or so he hoped.

Slowly he walked towards the altar and kneeled to say a prayer.
Then he stood straigt, turned around and enhailed the dive spiritual ambiance that filled the church.

In his left pocket he felt the key he recieved from the High Lady Regent. The key to the sacresty, where he would find all the things he needed for the services wich he waas going to leed.

Slowly he unlocked the door en entered the room. The air was a bit damp, for the door and windows hadn't been openend for quit some time. He first opend one of the windows to let the fresh air flow through. Today was a new beginning.

Having checked out his new office, Roberto found a long list, made by the former priest of all the pople wanted to get babtized. This was going to be a hell of a job. But he was ready to take the challange.

He put the list to the wall and next to it he wrote a message

As you can see the request list is very long.
To keep it workable for me, i sugest the following.
I'll start a mass, and when 5 people joined in to be babtized (or after a day or so) the ceremony begins.
After this is finished, i'll start a new one at once.
I hope that people who join in, participate in an active way,
so we can clear this job in a couple of weeks.

After the rp-ceremony is fished, i'll accept the IG babtesism, according to the rules.

ps: The list is updated to what i could find so far in the topics and registers.
If anyone on the list is already babtized rp, then please let me know in PM, with proof if possible.

Babtism mass of 27 june 1649

This was a special day. For England, London, the Londoners and Roberto himself.

The first mass in a long time would take plave in the church St Bartholomew-the-Great.
Roberto had put on his new priestclothes. First he went to the tower to ring the bells.

BIM BAM BIM BAM.......BIM BAM BIM BAM

The joyfull sound of the bells filled the London air with happiness.
Roberto was waiting by the altar for the people to arrive.

Faithfull people of London.
I call upon you.

Who ever seeks redemption, come foreward.

Roberto waited for the first 5 to arrive.

Reading in the library, Mary thought she heard the echoing of church bells from the distance. She dismissed it, it was a sound she had not heard in a long time and was sure it was her imagination. As her eyes scanned through the lines she could not get her mind off it. She paid the librarian a pound, checked the book out for the day, and left the building to see if what she heard was genuine.
Immediately after leaving the church she heard two passersbys conversing about the bells.

She quickly returned home, put her book away, and changed to some more suitable attire to visit the church. Seeing the new clergyman and hearing his words, she was drawn to approach. Embarrassed that she had not been there for a while, she spoke softly.

I am.. Mary Prosper. I would like to be baptized.

Oduan entered the church and noticed the presence of Roberto. The church was tidier and the bells had sounded. He also saw one of his Mannor's maids on the aisle. He walked to her.

Surprised by the Count's entrance, Mary made an awkward curtsy and her hand fumbled towards the clergyman's direction.

Yes my lord, I believe this is he.

Mary panicked. She wasn't certain, she hadn't been introduced.

Roberto was standing behind the altar, when he heard to people talking, one sounding familiar. When he heard a woman's voice saying

Yes my lord, I believe this is he.

He turned around and saw Duke Oduan standing there next to a yong lady.
Roberto stepped forward and greated the two.

Welcome in the church of st-Bartholemew-the-Great.
My name is Roberto, I'm the vicar.

Roberto smiled at Oduan and added

For sure I didn't, but I must say it suits you. Getting the grips with your new job as vicar? The Lady Regent has many expectatives on you. And this is what I wanted to talk you about, as you know Lady Catherine Stewart and I had been engaged for ages, the death of Bishop Sullivan frustrated our wedding plans but we are hoping that now you are here we could marry soon. When could you organice the ceremony?

Roberto was happily surprised when he heard the question of Duke Oduan. He had hoped for this to happen for quite some time.

Well, my dear friend.
May I congratulate you with this forthcomming commitment.
I am more then willing to marry the two of you as soon as possible.
But I think that first we have to arrange some things.

Roberto made an eyewink to Oduan, for he knew that catherine had to be babtized first.

But I think we can discuss these things better in private.
Maybe this afternoon after the mass?

For now I want to start with the babtism of this young lady here, who is standing here for quite some time now.

May almighty Lord who has given you the desire to follow the Holy Pascal Lamb give you the strength to continue in the way.

He Sprinkles some holy water on Mary's head.

Now let us state the creed together as people of faith.

We believe in one Lord,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is seen and unseen.

We believe in the Pascal Lamb,
the only Son of the Lord,
eternally begotten of the Father,

Mary smiled after the creed was spoken, and quietly thanked the vicar.

Thank you, Vicar Roberto.

She blushed and wondered whether she should go home now, or stay at the pew to see if anyone else was going to be baptized.

Roberto was content to see Mary so glad

Now you can atten to the mass any time you want, dear Mary.

Hopefully there will be al lot of ohter people being babtized really soon.

Roberto walked back to the altar and cleaned it up, so he was ready for the next mass

Fleury bows slightly. I do not know if I am in de right place, but I would like to ask ....

She looks down at her feet in embarresment.

The last sentence she spoke very quickly and her face blushes red.

Vicar Roberto is standing towards the altar, as he hears a soft ladies voice behind him

He turns around and sees a beautiful young woman standing in front of him.
She stares at him a bit shy. Her red cheeks give her a frsh look.
Roberto looks at her. It seems as if he knows her from somewhere.
Here face is familiar, yet he doesn't know her name.
But then he realises that this can't be possible, for he is only in England for some weeks.
And he hasn't met that much people yet.

Fleury listens to the beautiful voice of the vicar.

I am so please to hear I can be baptised here. My apology, my name is Fleury. I have just arrived in London, in Britain actually. I have come from the continent and hope to start a new life here.

It was an ardenous journey, but I have made it safely. My ancestors come from Holland and I was named after my great great great grandmother. It is with great pride that I carry her name.

Saying these words she smiles and looks up in the face of the man before her.

And now I am here!

The young woman told him a bit of her historie. Holland, that was far from the land that he came from. He had heard about it in tales of the family.

Then welcome in London, lady Fleury. It is a pleasure to meet you, and it would be even more of a pleasure to babtize you.
If it's alright with you, we can start the ceremony rith away.
