The Great Hall - Page 7 Empty
PostSubject: Re: The Great Hall   The Great Hall - Page 7 EmptyWed Dec 23, 2009 3:54 am

Elise was still not convinced that it wasn't a ghost when Catherine picked her up and walked towards Marie. She was absolutely not pleased with that. Catherine was bringing her right to the ghost. Would ghosts bite? tightly she holds on to Catherine.
When they are standing in front of the Marie ghost it greeted them. If it realy was Marie why didn't she call her Elise as she used to do?
Catherine didn't seemed scared. Elise thought is was not smart of her, if it was a ghost, maybe it was dangeres.
There was no other option than investigate it herself. Carefully she stretches her arm towards Marie, halfway she doubted a little, pulled her arm back for a moment. But then she stretched her arm so far that she touched the face of the Marieghost.
To her great surprise she didn't go right trough. It was a normal human face, it even felt warm. That was one relief.
Ok, so she was a human, but was she really Marie?
Carefully her hand went trough the hairs of the maybe Marie. Her hairs felt soft, just like those of Marie. when she pulls back her hand it even smells like Marie.

So it was a woman that looked and smelled like Marie and didn't was a ghost. But still, after such a time knowing that somebody was dead it looked almost impossible that it really was Marie.
Maybe ... but it was very unlikely
.
Maybe God had heard her prays and made Marie alive again. She had no doubts that God could do that. But would he have done it?
She would ask her a question that only Marie would know the answer to, and maybe Catherine.

If you are Marie, than who lives in the garden next to my bedroom window?

Marie-Thérèse smiled when she heard the question of her little sister. She thought back to the first time the little Queen saw her new room when she came to live with her in the Palace.
- A little family of magical fairies of course! And when you open your window at night, sometimes they’ll come in and sing the most wonderful songs for you to express their gratitude for letting them in in your warm and cosy room!

A big smile appeared on her face when the woman gave the right answer. It really was Marie!! God had made her alive again.
Elise stretched her arms both so that she could embrace Marie. It must been a funny sight, she hugging Marie while Catherine was still holding her. But she wasn't planning on letting her sister go again.

Marie, it is you!
Don't you ever die again!

Marie-Thérèse laughed when she saw the surprised face and reaction of her little sister. With a smile she hugged her little sister and then took her over from Catherine. She gave her a little kiss of her cheek.
- Tell me, how are you doing?

Catherine hold her silence while Elise slowly began to realise that Marie wasn't a ghost after all. She smiled to Marie and nodded a bit. She decided that the two sisters needed some privacy and after giving the guards the order to close the entrance of the Great Hall, Catherine made a small reverance to Marie. She was convinced that it wasn't really needed but she did it as a sign of deep respect.

I will be in my apartments, if you need me.

Then, Catherine made her way out of the Great Hall and began her walk towards the apartments of the Lady Regent.

Elise felt herself for a moment as a little child, being past from one person to the other. But at this time she didn't mather.

I'm doing well. Catherine is being really nice to me, like a mommy.
I've been baptised too, and bear and catherine too.
and and...

Elise wanted to tell so much that it didn't came out. But she had questions for Marie too.

How is heaven like? and God, how is he?

Marie-Thérèse coughed when she heard the questions of her little sister. She really thought that she had been dead? She raised an eyebrow.
- Well my little sis... I wasn't really dead, you know. I was just... really really ill. So I must disappoint you, because I really don't know how God looks like...

She paused for a moment and thought.
- But maybe Monseigneur Roberto could tell you how he look like.

Elise looks a little confused to her big sister. She had not been death? Why would her sister leave without saying anything if she was not dead? Even if you were sick you could still say something. She tries to get out of Marie's arms. At this point she felt as if she had been left alone. That she could ask her question to Roberto she didn't even hear anymore
She looks at Marie, her face looking sad.

Then why did you leave?

Marie-Thérèse looked at her little sister and smiled. She always had been so god damn curious, too curious in her opinion.
- I was very, very sick. I thought it would be better just to leave this crowded palace and to go to Arundel Castle to rest…

She took her little sister in her arms en gave her a little kiss on her cheek. Then she turned around and walked towards the large doors.
- Enough questions for now… I need to do some things now and get some sleep, and it’s getting late so I expect you to do the same.

She left the Great Hall and headed to their apartments.

Escorted by the royal guard, Piero made his way towards the Palace which he knew... very well. He entered the Great Hall and looked directly to the throne... where was Catherine? Where was Marie?

As Catherine was still working in the private offices of the High Lady Regent, her first Lady-in-waiting came in and she told her, after a short bow, that a man was standing in the Great Hall, asking for an audience with the Lady Regent. He claimed to have a very important letter with him. Catherine nodded and together they walked towards the Great Hall. As always, before even the doors of the Great Hall were opened, the guard next to the door announced the arrival of the Regent.

Her High Grace the Lady Regent of England, Scotland and Ireland, Lady Catherine Stewart

After the announcement, the large, heavy, wooden doors were opened and only a few seconds later, Catherine and her first Lady-in-waiting walked through it.

His eyes could not believe as the large wooden doors opened. Piero took his hat from his head, looking directly towards Catherine, who advanced towards his direction. His own legs trembled and he fell to the ground, looking at her. Was redemption ever possible? Would she recognize him? He was different... blind of an eye, wearing an eyepatch on it. His once pale skin were now tanned. His voice, filled with emotion, forgot the proper manners to address the Lady High Regent as he spoke.

Catherine! Do you remember me... Piero... do you remember me, you own brother?

Catherine did not recognise Piero at first. His appearance had changed a lot since the last time she saw him. She was shocked to see how he fell on his knies and claimed that he was Piero. Catherine did recognise his voice and as she was now close to him, she bend through her knies as well and looked in his eye and face.

Piero.. My goodness.. I thought you were dead!

She saw how he was still shaking and looked worried. Catherine already called for help.

Come.. we shall go to my apartments.

Catherine didn't actually know how to react, as she was still in shock. Her brother was alive, after believing for a whole year that there was no other option than him being dead. She helped him up with the help of er first Lady-in-waiting and escorted him to her private apartments. Before she left the Great Hall, she stopped for a moment to say something to the guard who was standing at the door.

Please announce that the Lady Regent isn't contactable for today anymore.

Robrecht Samuel Spencer enters the castle through a few doors. A guard points to a door and Robrechts silently walks to the door. He's dressed in a blue costume. When he enters the door he's impressed by the greatness of the hall. He looks around and sees the queen-regent.

He immediately bows his head for the queen-regent and waits till she addresses him.

Catherine was sitting on the throne, which stood directly across the room. She looked at the young, well-dressed gentleman and smiled softly. She had actually no idea for what reason he decided to visit the Palace of Whitehall.

Please, come closer, your Grace.

Robrecht looks up to the queen and slowly walks to the queen.

Your Highness, I'm here to present myself. I have studied in France and my ambition is to spread my knowledge to young souls, like Her Highness, Princess Elisabeth of England.

Robrecht waits to see the queens reaction.

Curious little Marie was wandering around the cold and empty palace. Passing by the Great Hall, she heard voices coming out of it. Well well, what a surprise, she thought. The throne room was in use again? She coughed, announcing her presence, and entered the Great Hall. She was just in time to hear the last words of the man standing in front of the Regent.
“You Highness”? Well uhm… That was a mistake, certainly for some one who seemed wanting to get in the favour of the throne. She coughed once more.

“Your Highness”? Pardon me, Sir With No Name, but normally we use Your High Grace addressing the Regent.

Catherine laughed softly as she heard Princess Marie. Although she had a point, Catherine was able to see that this 'Sir With No Name' didn't really knew how to react on this. She looked at Marie and then back to the man.

The Princess could't be more right, actually. Another thing is that Elizabeth of England is already a Queen and not a Princess anymore. When looking at these mistakes, what sort of knowledge do you have to give to our Queen?

Robrecht was waiting for a reaction when someone entered the hall. He was a little bit shocked when she just starts talking and points him to his mistakes. When he gets a closer look, he recognises her and he immediately makes a formal greeting. Then he starts talking again.

Actually, the title Your High Grace is a rare title, which isn't commonly used, so my mistake... I'm not used to the title. A reigning duke or duchess is mostly referred to as Your Highness, so that's the main reason for my mistake. I apologize for the inconvenience and promise to use the right title in the future.

As for the matter of Princess Elisabeth of England, I have no memory of a coronation of the princess, so most nobles and commoners will see her as Princess. She hasn't got the blessing from His Grace, the Archbishop of Canterbury and hasn't got a formal coronation service where the nobles recognize the princess as queen of England, that's the main reason for not acknowledging her as the Queen of England. Also the constitution doesn't make any reference to the fact that the queen becomes queen immediately after the death of the reigning queen.

If you aren't interested in my services, Your High Grace, I won't bother you any further. If you need me in the future, just ask for Robrecht Samuel Spencer on the address I'll give to the guards. Thanks for listening and for your time.

Robrecht makes a formal bow and leaves the great hall backwards, to let the queen go on with the state affairs.
